produced by Nicholas Hytner, 1981 Brighton Festival

Henze: The English Cat (Lord Puff)
Frankfurt Festival, Edinburgh Festival, and BBC Henze Festival at the London Barbican (including a BBC relay)

Berg: Lulu (Prince, Servant, Marquis)
1996 Glyndebourne Festival

Stravinsky: The Rake's Progress (Sellem)
Welsh National Opera's fiftieth anniversary

Prokoviev: Betrothal in a Monastery or The Duenna (Don Jerome)
Wexford Festival

Bernstein: Candide (Prince, Merchant, Inquisitor)
conducted by the composer himself. Performances given with the LSO at London's Barbican concert hall, recorded for a live video, and subsequently recorded by Deutsche Grammophon, Bernstein's last performances in the UK.
